Hello everyone, I’ve never taken part in this forum or signed up to it until now, am a little bit green to be honest, but am facing a problem I cannot for the life of me resolve simply and looking for help of others. I appreciate that this may have been already discussed, I have searched but to no avail within this forum a problem of this nature
My setup is as follows:
A Self hosted Vaultwarden server:
Vaultwarden 1.36.0
Web-Vault 2026.4.1
All clients use the Google Chrome Bitwarden extension current version:
Version: 2026.7.0
SDK: ‘main (3e060f8)’
Server version (Third-party): 2025.12.0
Current Working clients using the Bitwarden extension:
Zorin OS 18.1 Core
macos Sequoia 15.7.7
Current Failing clients using the same Bitwarden client version:
Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC
Windows 8.1
owing to a recent encountered problem using the previous version of the Chrome Bitwarden extension, all clients were unable to connect using the master password to the Vaultwarden vault, all failed. The resolution was to update the Vaultwarden server to the version specified above.
The problem noticed today is that whilst the macos and Zorin OS client are operating normally without incident, the Windows clients only receive and display ‘greyed out’ vault entries, auto fill options no longer work as a result.
It is possible that the Bitwarden client for Windows is a likely culprit? but if the Windows client Bitwarden extension where to be downgraded for example they would possibly encounter the previous highlighted access using the master password issue, updating the server whilst it is fully functional and certain clients can access normally seems to be a bit crazy if that is the solution, but I don’t know, can anyone shed any light or help with this please?
