(Solved) Logged in on Bitwarden app, but unlock fails on Master Password reprompt

Hello, I could use some help here. Web App and Chrome extensions work perfectly.

  1. Got a new Android phone, and I installed the Bitwarden app.
  2. Logged in to my self-hosted Vaultwarden instance.
  3. Was reprompted to enter Master Password again to unlock my vault.
  4. Unlock fails with error. (See screenshot below)

Versions:

  • Running Vaultwarden on Raspberry Pi v. “1.34.3”
  • Android App v. 2026.4.2 (same as on previous phone)

Upgrade to the latest release of Vaultwarden or downgrade your app. The Bitwarden clients are generally not backwards compatible with older versions of Vaultwarden especially if they make some breaking changes that we don’t have any control over.

You were right, and I was very skeptical it would work because the exact same versions worked on my old phone. I upgraded Vaultwarden. Something about the way 2FA was implemented was causing a hangup. Now it works. Thank you.
