I’d like to request the addition of a tagging feature for passwords. This would be extremely helpful for organization and filtering within the vault. For example, when I create a password for a home server that has SSH and Docker, I could place it in a servers folder and add tags like (SSH, Docker). I tested Passbolt, but this feature is only available in the Pro version, which isn’t practical for personal use.
Not sure I fully understand your intention - but could you just add a text field to your entries called “tags” and write a comma separated list of words in there? The search function will find them.
this is how i am doing it now but an actual # hashtag feature would be great.. i find myself using hashtags in every program that supports it - makes discovery so much easier… especially when youre using it like we do - as a msp for our clients - and have 100 very similar logons..
Would you elaborate on the functional distinction between a hashtag (as they would be in your ideal version of the software) and how the software works currently?
In my experience the search field is fairly comprehensive and will filter the database down over most of the fields. for example, if you didnt want to use the method I showed above (a ‘tags’ text field), then why not just have each secret separately and correctly named like this…
Entry name: “Home server XYZ“
Field name: “SSH key”
Field value: “hjkfs879cfdjhlfsdnjkfsdyuosdjnkl…“
Field name: “Docker API key“
Field value: “78fyuifsghjsf7…“
…those field names will be found in the search - which I think is identical to hashtag functionality.
