I’ve been reading a lot of post stating vaultwarden supports passkeys.
Nevertheless I haven’t found a possibility to store my passkeys in vaultwarden up to now. There’s simply no possibility. I can store passwords TOTP and other stuff, but there is no field/possibility to store a passkey.
That makes me wonder if “vaultwarden supports passkeys” just means, “I can log in to vaultwarden using a passkey”, but not “I can store passkeys within vaultwarden, i.e. to use them to log into other websites”.
Is this correct?
They way it works (for me, anyway) is that when you enable/activate a passkey in a web site, the Bitwarten extension pops-up and asks you if you want to store it. You say yes, and it’s then stored.
Make sure you use Vaultwarden (or rather, the Bitwarden extension) as default password manager. It works OK both with Firefox and Chrome. Didn’t test with Edge.
Ah … this is is something I haven’t tried.
In Bitwarden there is a tab in the dialog where you create a new “secret”. There you can put in a passkey.
Thanks for explainig this!
I’m looking for the Secrets Manager in the Bitwarden Android app without success. Is it supported on Android?
