If you keep getting useless “update existing login“ prompts from bitwarden’s browser extension version 2025.11.0 do not click on “Update”. There is a bug in the extension and clicking on “Update” can overwrite your password. Hopefully the bitwarden folks will release a fixed extension soon.

Been happening for a week or more I think, it’s rather annoying and I hope they fix it soon.

It seems to have been resolved?
I am not getting the prompts anymore and my version is 2025.11.1.
I just got prompted to update my unchanged password while logging into this forum and my bitwarden firefox extension is now 2025.11.1. The latest report on the bug mentions 2025.11.1 here.
Temporary fix is to click Settings → Notifications → (uncheck) Ask to update existing login. This completely disables the update feature on entries, so if you want this feature you’ll have to remember to change it back once it’s fixed. Thanks for confirming this is a bug, it’s been annoying me for awhile now. Still a problem with v2025.11.1

Although a fix for this issue has been merged, it is not in the publicly distributed extension yet. Reference here.
